Join us in mapping off-road trails across North America and beyond. Together, we can build a better community, and help everyone go farther.
The goal of our Trail Guides is to inspire enthusiasts to get outside, while equipping them with the knowledge and tools they need to stay on track even when they are off grid.
We bring trails to life by capturing photos, descriptions, and difficulty ratings, providing the key information the community needs to off-road responsibly. In doing so, we help people discover new places, while dispersing impact and protecting trails for future generations.

What It Takes
Off-roading is fun, and our number one priority is to keep it that way. We’ve done our best to simplify this program so that your main focus can be enjoying the journey.
1
Check the map! Ensure the trail you’re submitting doesn’t mirror or overlap an existing Guided trail submission. Trail Guides can run any combination of base trails or completely unmapped trails for the program. As long as it isn’t already guided with photos and descriptions, you can send it in.
2
When you head out for your next trip, use the Tracker function in the Offroad App to record a track along the way. Capture a minimum of five quality photos during your drive or ride that you’ll be able to send in later.
3
When you get home, open the web map on your desktop, write 50+ words to describe the trip and submit your trail! It’s that easy. Of course, you’ll need access to our enhanced tools and Contributor Portal to submit a trail, so apply at any of the links on this page!
Trail Requirements
All that is required is a clean track from your trip, at least five well-framed pictures, and a 50+ word description. We want to hear about the difficult obstacles, good views, points of interest, and anything other enthusiasts should be aware of, like a water crossing. And if 50 words sounds like a lot, this short paragraph is 60 words.

What we stand for at onX Offroad
At onX Offroad, we have a deep-rooted passion for everything outdoors. Whether through four-wheel drives, bikes, skis, or our own two feet, we live to experience the wild places our planet has to offer—and it’s our goal to empower others to do the same. That’s why we’re constantly working to not only enhance our apps, but preserve the lands they help us explore.
We back ethical off-roading— following legal routes outlined by landowners and management groups, and always adhering to Tread Lightly and Leave No Trace principles. We strive for equal access for all people and all interests, balancing the need to preserve motorized use, with the critical conservation of wilderness areas for future generations.
It is our belief that by resourcing an intentional community of off-roaders with the knowledge and tools to stay on track even when they are off grid, we can help to reduce impact, limit closures, preserve habitats, and create a passionate community of outdoor advocates.
Plan well. Play hard. Make it last.
