Trail Overview

This trail follows FS1705/Kenney Rd and runs along Frog Bayou, the main tributary for Lake Fort Smith, and features Frog Bayou Falls. Frog Bayou can be traveled either from Bidville Rd on the west side or FS 124 on the east side. The trip's highlight is Frog Bayou Falls, which is more easily accessed from the east side, with a travel time of 45 minutes or less to reach the falls. This side of the trail is mostly an easy rating. Starting on the west side, travel time to the falls is between 2-3 hours and features several narrow, overgrown sections that are sure to leave pinstripes if you are in anything bigger than a SxS. This side of the trail is intermediate and features water crossings, steep climbs and descents, washouts, mudholes, and Kenney Cemetery.

Ran this in my gladiator overland with no lift on 33’s. Started on the east side and just went to the falls and back out. Fun and easy trail. No need for a super gnarly rig to enjoy the east side of this trail. Lots of razors on this trail so be careful.

So I started on this trail on the west side. Now I am not sure who decided it should start there but it is someone’s private property and I felt like an idiot driving through someone’s land getting to the trail. However, I would suggest if you are going to start from this end you only go in a side by side or 4wheeler. The trees and bushes are very overgrown and to say you’ll get some pin stripes is an understatement. I will say once you get out of the thorns and trees the climb out was fun. I’ll have to start on the other end next time.

The trail East of the falls is 1-3 rating. Can be done in a stock Jeep. A few technical spots. West of the falls it’s bit more challenging. There are some bigger rocks and stock vehicles may need spotting. My TJ with 31’s and only 2.5” lift had very little trouble. Just enough to make it fun. The trail is a bit easier going from East to West because you are going downhill on the most challenging obstacles.
