3N69 Gold Mountain

Technical Trail Workshop Day with some lightly modified Toyotas and Jeeps. The gatekeeper seemed unchanged from a month ago. Waterfall# 1 is pretty deteriorated (easy line on the left and party line on the right) but smart line picks and patience will get you up and over. Waterfall# 2 seems to vary with rig set-up. Ground clearance and approach angle slowed down rigs (< 3" lift) with stock equipped bumpers. The v-notch on the left is the most widely used choice. I went up the middle rock face and made it up, but got a little hung up on my rear diff (see photo 1). A little fine tuning, and we were up. The talus rock field (Boneyard) is a must and seemed pretty unchanged from months ago, but once you start heading back out the last 1 mile of 3N69 has a pretty rutted out section with rock quarry that just takes a some patience, spotting and line picking if you are running stock height or >35" tires. Otherwise another good day out in the trail. Have fun! KUYA RC
