Trail Overview

Three Bottles is the hardest trail in the Manzanita Mountain Trail System near Albuquerque, New Mexico. This trail is best for running south to north, as it goes through several huge rock problems that are marked as directional in the south-to-north direction. The main trail is made up of lots of moderate rocky ledges, but it comes up to several splits for easy and difficult sections of trail where advanced riders can go down some really steep rock slab drop-off obstacles. The easy direction is still about a 5 difficulty, while the difficult obstacles are very extreme, up to a 9 difficulty. The extremely difficult sections are 4 to 5-foot huge drops with ramps like downhill mountain biking drop-offs. One of the obstacles is a rock pinch. They are all optional obstacles. Someone could ride all the easy splits without having to attempt any of the difficult splits. The trail starts off from both the north and south ends with easy sections of trail before approaching these splits. The south end has a big warning sign about the technical requirements of this trail. If riding north to south, you'll see the Do Not Enter signs for all the difficult obstacles, but you can take the easy split to get back to the beginning of each difficult obstacle. This is kind of a play area because you can loop back around on each obstacle and keep practicing and making laps. There is also a bail-out near the middle of the trail to connect to 106 Road.
