Trail Overview

There are approximately 6.5 miles of roads used for motorized use in this area. Although not very technical, the roads provide off-roaders of all skill level an area to practice and explore on their mountain bike, dirt bike, ATV or SxS, or high clearance vehicle. No off-road motorized vehicle use is permitted to protect the archaeological sites in the area.

Access Description

Located approximately 20 miles north of Billings, Montana is the recently developed Acton Recreation Area. Take Highway 3 north (northwest) past the town of Acton. Take a right (north) onto Oswald Road, which is located between mile marker 18 and 19. Continue 6.5 miles, north, until Heag Road and take a right (east). About 2.5 miles farther is the parking lot and entrance to the Acton Recreation Area.This area encompasses approximately 4,000 acres of Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and State Lands. BLM, Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) and the local mountain biking club have spent countless hours developing this area into a recreation destination. This includes vaulted toilets, picnic area, established campsites and almost a dozen mountain biking trails for all skill levels, including a kid's loop.
