Trail Overview
You just completed Pat Canyon and you will see a gate. Public access is permitted beyond the gate. The trail meanders along the west side of the Black Mountain with 3.5 miles of easy switchbacks into a very dense forest, to the Black Mountain Communication Data Site, which provides transmission services to the valley. Early spring is not recommended, the trail could potentially still have snow. By March, this trail is usually passable. In the summer, on a hot day, this is a great place to cool off.Beyond the Communication Tower at the top of Black Mountain, there is a single track that is limited to motorcycles only, foot or horse traffic.
