Trail Overview
This 6-mile sandy road starts at Jawbone Canyon Road. It travels north through sandy washes. Off-camber, deep sand, and ruts are the main obstacles. Then it is a steep climb on an uneven and winding trail to the top. At that point, SC176 continues to the northeast. There is also a split-off to the LA Aqueduct Road. The trail travels through various jurisdictions--Jawbone OHV, BLM, and Red Rock State Park. No Green Sticker vehicles are allowed. The rock formations throughout the trail are stunning. There are main split-off trails that can be confusing but ultimately come back to Gold Canyon Road at some point. Be cautious as these tracks can be very deep sand. There are many wildflowers in the higher sections to admire.
