Trail Overview

This is a secluded trail that loops over to Dakota Hill. There is a quick, easy side trip to a old shaft house that's in great condition. It can be confusing to navigate the unmarked roads, so you'll want to follow directions carefully. Unlicensed vehicles will have a great time on this trail, and parking is available along Moon Gulch and at the south end of the trail. Open all year.

We started out on Apex Road and rather than turning left at Apex, we went straight thru Whites Gulch and it connected to this Moon & Gamble Gulch section. Nothing too technical, and my kid was stoked!

Started the trail from the south off Apex Rd. And headed towards moon gulch. First obstacle was the highly rutted out switchbacks, I had no issue in a stock TRD Pro with AT tires. Once you make it past that, it is just a tight trail. If you take it slow you can avoid pin stripes and tagging trees. Towards the end when it opens up, there’s a decent 2’ drop into mud. Fun trail, took some newbies with a Defender and ‘03 Tundra, both had fun. After this, head towards Rollinsville, then towards Tolland and pick up the northern part of Apex rd. Take that to Kingston Leak trail and down into St. Mary’s. Solid day of beginner wheelin’

Started on the moon gulch side. Almost no mud in the pit at all. Still about a 2’ drop into it though. Have 33’s and a 3” lift. Wasn’t an issue. Fun trail all the way throughout.
