Trail Overview

This is a one-way trail that you enter from the westbound lane of Interstate 40. The trail gets tight in many areas, there is not enough room to turn around. You will encounter steep drops on one side of the trail with a steep bank on the other. There are water crossings and tight twisty rocky trails. The scenery is awesome and there are a bunch of other trails nearby

Difficulty

We encountered a few places where a spotter may be required. Slippery rock with steep embankments that will cause rollovers if the incorrect line is chosen. Most of the trail is fairly easy except for a few minor spots, where slippery rock due to rain.

Recent rain helped with some of the washouts. 35’s with 2.5 Metal Cloak lift made easy work of obstacles, never the less there were a few pucker spots. Next to the large tree at the end of the trail was some pretty deep ruts.

Really nice, technical but not too extreme trail. Was well maintained, with a lot of recent tree clearing. The trail has clearly been maintained as a tough but doable trail, though the nature of the trail means that it's clearly degrading as it gets used. Met someone who said that the trail might be getting too much total use throughout the year making it hard to maintain, and that they are thinking about closing it for part of the year to keep trail degradation manageable. Be alert near the midway point at the Ranger District border, as it's easy to turn the wrong way. If you go past a gate and end up in a field that doesn't go anywhere, you need to turn around and find the correct turnoff.

Trail was a bit busy, met several jeeps coming in from the Max Patch side, a bit of a pain with there being very few places to move over. Trail was a touch muddy not too bad. Had to other stock jeeps with us. 1 07 Rubicon and 1 17’ 4 door. Made it all the way through without any issues. Great ride!!!
