Trail Overview
Forest Road 1840 could have easily been a candidate for the WABDR. It's an immensely fun, windy, two-track trail through the forest. With how dense the woods are in some places, it gives the feeling of driving through a tunnel almost. There are a couple of challenging spots that'll be encountered, including erosion damage that is still passable, and one longer hill climb/descent. There are a few deep potholes throughout. Occasionally the trees open up for views of the surrounding forest. On a clear day, one spot, in particular, has quite an epic view of Mount Hood, which is roughly 40 miles away. Intermittent cell service. The area is unmaintained (closed) in the winter and early spring months.
