Trail Overview
This trail is an epic drive up into or down from the Upper Rim Road area. The ancient pine trees are enormous as they reach for the sky. The mountains are ominous as they loom overhead. Where there is an opening in the trees, there are outstanding views for miles and miles. Early springtime brings colorful wildflowers and lush greenery. A few offshoots here and there lead to barricades where people have clearly camped. The road is in good shape with the typical Montana potholes and loose, gravely corners. Overall it's wide enough to squeeze by another vehicle. But pullouts make it easier. There's no Verizon cell service, so you must plan ahead.
