The initial part of Bear Valley road (at Hwy 20) is gravel and is in relatively good condition. Once the road starts to get level with the creek, the road gets more rutted and is littered with pot holes. There are some sections where there are washboarding, but it’s not too bad. The valley portion of the road is gravely and dirt, but kind of in ok condition. If you take a truck or ride a dirt/dual/ADV bike you’ll be fine (probably have fun like I did lol!). I would not recommend taking a car with low clearance on this road. Parts of the road between the first bridge crossing and the valley are only big enough to fit one vehicle.
