Trail Overview
Climb your way up into the hills above Alberton and enjoy the views of the Clark Fork river as well as the hills of the Lolo National Forest. This well maintained dirt road is open year-round but is inaccessible to the majority of wheeled vehicles during winter due to snow. Snow often melts by mid spring but can often remain in patches of shade through late spring. If you like to have an area to yourself, wait until after the spring turkey and bear seasons have closed. Otherwise, these roads can be crawling with more hunters than fleas on the bears they covet. Also consider looping back over the hills on Corral Creek road for views of the Frenchtown valley or head down to South Side road to follow along the Clark Fork.

Difficulty
The road is often single vehicle width with rocking outcroppings and ruts from water runoff. Moderate ground clearance is suggested but not required. 2WD is fine when the roads are not icy or snowy.
