Trail Overview
The Mount Tilton Spur Trail is a 0.8-mile connector trail that links Mount Tilton Trail to Crystal Peak Trail. It starts with a big climb up a ridgeline through high alpine tundra, straight up to a saddle. It continues along this saddle above 12,000-foot elevation with killer views of Crystal Peak and Star Peak. The tundra is a unique mix of red and brown soil, with green ground brush, making for incredible scenery while you ride. There are some super steep sections on this trail, as you gain 500 feet of elevation to the top of the saddle, then lose a similar amount of elevation as you drop down to meet up with Crystal Peak Trail. Most of the trail has a pretty rocky surface, full of loose small rocks, but the trail doesn't have any major rock obstacles or ledges. It has some narrow sections and side-hilling sections that add some difficulty.
