Trail Overview

Easy trail in the summer that leads to some great camping locations. The trail can become difficult in the winter but offers a good introduction to snow wheeling. During summer conditions, this trail can be done in high-clearance vehicles in either 2 or 4WD. Winter conditions require high clearance 4WD and recovery gear. Cell reception is weak but available throughout the trail.

Access Description

The road to the trail starts in Coleman, Alberta. From the Crownest highway (#3 highway) in Coleman, go north on 61st Street, take a right onto 22 Avenue, then an immediate left onto 23 Avenue. Follow 23 Avenue until you reach the sign welcoming you to the "McGillivray Staging Area". Once you pass the sign, continue straight until you reach a trail with a sign displaying "CLBC Mtn Site". Continue down that trail until it ends at the "McGillivray Creek Youth Camp" sign. This is where the trail ends for high-clearance 4x4s. Camping locations are found all along the beginning to the end of the trail.
