Trail Overview
Mara Fire Lookout is a challenging trail that extends up to the Wildfire Lookout station. The previous trail that was mapped out did not make it to the lookout as there is snow up in this area for 9-10 months of the year. this trail starts off smooth but it becomes very rocky with some major off-camber rock climbs. there are steep grades to climb over and the last 1 mile is a series of tight switchbacks that you have to pivot back and forth on a steep edge to make the corner. The views are incredible and worth the challenge if you are a seasoned off-road enthusiast. I would not recommend it for someone just learning or new to off-roading as there are spots where you could get in trouble if the wrong line is not chosen or you don't have a spotter.
