Trail Overview
This easy wide, graded route leads through the desert to the ghostly-looking old town of Imperial Gables. The town is small, and interesting old roofless, abandoned structures with stone walls exist. Some buildings are more intact than others; one, in particular, was flying a flag, so it may or may not have been inhabited or potentially a "Travelers Cabin". There are also piles of old tires and mining equipment around. This is a fun little side trip for the area when looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of the Imperial Sand Dunes. The trail is smooth and wide enough to pass oncoming traffic easily. The route twists and turns along some little hills leading one off into the desert, making for a fun drive. The surface type is a combination of sand and dirt. There is one bar of LTE service. The best times of the year to be out in this area are in the spring time to spot budding wildflowers. This area gets quite hot in the summer time.

Difficulty
Any SUV would have no difficulties exploring this trail. The sand and dirt surface is hard packed enough that traction is very good and airing down is not particulary necessary other than to aid in comfort.
