Trail Overview
A short bumpy dirt road through the trees leads down to a day-use parking area and this site accesses the Deschutes River as well as has access to the Deschutes River Trail. Most of the trail surface is dirt but it does appear some sections used to be paved, the transitions between the old pavement and the dirt are pretty rough and bumpy. Watch for potholes. The trail goes all the way down to the river where there is a boat launch. No parking at the boat launch but there is parking just above in the trees, at the day-use area which has picnic tables and a restroom. Motors are prohibited on the Deschutes River from Aspen boat ramp to the north end of Lava Island. Dogs must be on leash at all trailheads throughout the year and on the Deschutes River Trail from May 15-September 15.Recreation Fee Site: Parking at this site requires a recreation pass. Passes are NOT available at this site, but can be purchased from Forest Service offices or vendors.
