Trail Overview

This trail is part of Los Padres National Forest. This trail is for street-legal vehicles only. Can either start from either Pozo or Lake Lopez side. High clearance is needed for the numerous seasonal creek crossings, especially on the Lopez side. Even though recently graded there are few deep ruts and narrow spots from erosion. There is some potential to see open-range cows. This trail is subjected to close due to weather conditions.

Difficulty

During the rainy season, there is a seasonal creek that will need to be crossed on either end. There is high risk for erosion throughout the trail.

Was there on Jan. 25 entering from Lopez Lake. Signs said it was closed but I kept moving forward and it wasn’t closed, until I reached the terminus in Pozo, where the gates were locked. Found a USFS guy who unlocked the north gate or I would have had to do the return trip south. No reason why this nice trail should be closed but it apparently technically was.
