Trail Overview
Hornets Nest is a rocky trail littered with shale and slate-type rocks, creating layers of uneven rocky formations. These formations provide great traction when dry, but become increasingly difficult to crawl once wet. Hornets Nest begins at Taxi Cab and converges with Turner Over at the top of Flat Access. This trail does feature a bypass that also brings you out on Turner Over as well, but lower on the trail.

Difficulty
There are no dangerous off-camber situations on Hornets Nest, but the trail is designed to hit the obstacles right up the middle with formations as tall as 36 inches. There is room to each side of the larger obstacles for those who don't have the necessary ground clearance.
History
This trail got its name from hosting a large hornets nest that attacked park staff when cutting the trail.
