Trail Overview

RBD - Bypass takes the detour around the main mountain obstacle at RBD and Mall Crawl. The bypass is not your typical high-clearance vehicle bypass. Vertical-facing rock shelves jet out of the mountain, creating awkward off-camber lanes to crawl; when wet, they can cause wheels to slip but likely will trap you in between the shelf rather than let you slide back down. The remainder of the trail is red clay and silty rock. Exercise caution when reaching the sides and top of RBD, as drivers attempting that obstacle cannot see you until they level out and may need to use speed to get to the top.

Difficulty

The short steep grades and jetted rocks around 16 inches bump this bypass from a 3 to a 4 in difficulty. Expect this trail to be worse in the rain and continue to degrade with popularity.
