Trail Overview

USFSR #500E - Corn is a wide-open dirt trail that is seasonally open from 10/01-02/29. This trail is located inside the Shoal Creek Ranger District of the Talladega National Forest and is a dead-end trail. USFSR #500E is accessible from the primary trail USFSR #500. 500E runs parallel to the Pinhoti National Recreation Trail, so be sure to keep an eye out for hikers around blind turns. Since the trail is only open during hunting season, be sure to observe all safety guidelines such as wearing a blaze orange hat when exiting the vehicle.

Difficulty

This trail is of no concern for high clearance vehicles, or even 2WD vehicles, but the smaller humps in the trail will cause high centering of sedans and smaller vehicles.

USFSR #500E extends farther on the Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM), however, a sign has been posted stating, "no motor vehicles beyond this point" halfway through the trail. Always remember to stay on designated routes and tread lightly to keep our trails open.
