Trail Overview

Not much to see along the route until you get to the end. Stay in the main wash and obey all signs. Views at the end are definitely worth this short drive. All vehicles in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park must be street legal.

Difficulty

Easy: The route climbs gradually the entire way, but the climb is almost imperceptible until the end. Soft sand is the only real challenge. You should definitely have 4-wheel drive. Stock tires will do better if aired down a bit. Be aware that flash floods are possible in Fonts Wash.

History

Fonts Point is one of the most popular viewpoints in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Try to time your visit to be there before sunset when views of the ancient Badlands are the most spectacular. You'll gain a better appreciation of the geology if you stop at the visitor center beforehand.
