Trail Overview
Hell to Pay starts off as a fairly smooth trail but quickly escalates into big boulders and fairly tall off-camber drop-offs. From the top, there are some great views, and if you go down, you can limp back through the desert since breakage is likely. This is a buggy trail, and we had to lower the full-bodied rig down to keep it from rolling. There is no way to bypass the big obstacles, so once you are in, you are fully committed. This is one of the hardest trails in Johnson Valley, so prepare for breakage and rolling.
