Trail Overview

This intermediate ATV trail goes west to east through the Texas Creek Recreation Area, ending near the main staging area on FCR 27 Road. The west end starts as a wide dirt two-track with lots of flat embedded rock surfaces, meandering through the pinyon pine. Some of the rocks are bigger and chunkier and sticking up, so ATVs will have to pick a good line over them. Between the rock sections, the trail is smooth and curvy, with dips and rollers and twisty turns through the trees. The trail surface has a lot of loose pea-gravel though, so it can be slippery around the corners. Near the east end, there's a long loose climb that has some embedded layers of rock that will be a bit trickier. It descends back down with some sharper hairpin turns, back down to a flat valley, crosses some washes, and ends on BLM Route 6021. This makes a fun loop from the staging area with 6035B and 6035A.

Access Description

The Texas Creek Recreation Area is easily accessed off of Fremont County Road 27, north of Highway 50. There is a large dirt parking area and a couple of dispersed campsites less than a mile from Highway 50. It's a pretty popular area for ATV riders year-round, with rocky and rugged trails through a high desert terrain. All trails are well-marked and easy to follow.
