Trail Overview

This trail traverses the mountain slope opposite the Keystone Ski Area, so it provides excellent views of the ski area. Frey Gulch and the nearby Tenderfoot Mountain are fairly popular dirt bike riding areas, as most of the trails here are single tracks. It is a seasonal area for all motorized vehicles with different closure dates for two-wheel and four-wheel vehicles. This is an easy ride with several runoff control berms that may limit longer-wheelbase vehicles. There are designated campsites all along the trail.

Difficulty

Most of this trail is relatively easy with several erosion control berms that may require caution for low clearance or long-wheelbase vehicles. There is some rutting and washouts but nothing that requires a high clearance vehicle.

Access Description

The trail is easily accessed from Colorado Highway 6 east of the Keystone Ski Area. The turnoff from Highway 9 is also the entrance to the local landfill, so be mindful of large trucks on the entrance road.
