Trail Overview

BLM Road #8334 is not challenging in itself, but presents great views. There are many spurs with plenty of space for camping. Each spur leads to a great view of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and towns. Wild flowers are in full bloom during the spring. The road that travels west along the ridge leads to a great view of Basalt.

Agreed with the last person to review this. It is absolutely NOT 2/10 difficulty. We scratched the living hell out of van because we had no idea how badly overgrown it is and didn't know to turn around. Some switchbacks required us to backup to make the turn. We have a 170 wheel base 2500 Sprinter. AVOID if you care at all about your vehicle's exterior. High clearance is also a must. Not many pull offs until you're on the southern end of the trail.

Easy my ass! I would say more moderate. It was very steep in a few areas and very rocky and uneven. Foliage overgrown in middle scraped top and sides of Jeep. And a few sharp turns. Only a couple of places large enough to stop or pull over to side. Saw a couple of hikers and a dirt bike. Trail was more appropriate for them than a four door Jeep.
