Trail Overview
This trail is located within the Babcock-Webb Wildlife Management Area. The Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission requires a $3 per person or $6 per vehicle for daily use fee. Some exceptions may apply to those who hold a current WMA Permit from FWC, check with FWC and download the specific WMA regulations posted on their website. Once onsite you are required to check-in at the "Check Station", which is an iron post next to an information board located on the south side of Tuckers Grade. Tram Grade West of Oilwell Grade is primarily one vehicle wide, with ledges having steep shoulder grades or areas of steep drop off into the abutting wetland. The trail is an evenly graded rock trail, that can be unmanageable following storms or rain events, leaving potholes and ruts. The trail East of Oilwell Grade up to the closure gate is two vehicle passable, evenly graded and maintained rock trail. Access much further past Seaboard Grade is closed only except during select hunting periods or other times that the FWC designates. The trail leads through a good portion of the 70,000 plus acre Wildlife Management Area. This is a nice leisurely trail for those wanting the opportunity to view Florida wildlife (e.g. Alligators, Whitetail Deer, Wild Hogs, Coyote, Bobcats, Bald Eagles, etc.) or cattle along this trail. The trail can be driven by most 2WD vehicles and ORV/OHV year around. There are several picturesque ponds just off the trail that provide great fishing and wildlife viewing opportunities. The Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission limits access to only named and numbered trails due to severe impacts of Off-Road Vehicle/Off-Highway Vehicles (ORV/OHV) and related environmental damages. Remember to tread lightly and to remain on only named or numbered roads/trails.
