Trail Overview

Starting on the south side of the trail, you will come across well-maintained gravel roads with opportunities for fishing and dispersed camping. Further north, there are washouts and a few rock ledges/gardens that require a high-clearance vehicle and 4x4 if there has been recent rain. Along the way, several small off-shooting trails will make a muddier experience if desired.

Difficulty

The northern half of the road is not maintained, with several spots of washouts that are off-camber and slick. Towards the top of the mountain, the trail begins to get more rocky, with a few protruding rocks up to 18 inches and a few small rock shelves.

beautiful sights to see and easy well kept road east of the AT intersection but the west side is aired down the tires it was more trail like, a lot of bouncy rocks and wash outs. good fun, the coolest section was going to bearded falls and on the way back I saw on the right a little 3ft wall climb where offroaders had been using to get back on to the main trail instead of taking the normal entrance. my bronco with 35s, lockers, and in 4L made quick work of it but it was super fun and made me careful when picking my line.

It was just me and the wife so stopped and hiked to bearden falls. According to the map the plan was to drive to the top and then cut over into Amicalola falls but the Amicalola Ck trail is closed to foot traffic only. I’ll attach a picture of the sign. Other than that the trail is in good condition. I feel it should be rated easy nothing technical at all

Driving from the south side of the trail up to the top of the mountain is easy. Flat, well maintained road with numerous kampsites along the creek. All the fun begins after you start descending toward the north part of the trail, that's when you will get several dropouts and protruding rocks. For a proper 4x4 on 33s or 35s it will be no problem, but if you are on a street tires like I was, 265/55/19 , you will have fun )) I had couple of really intense situations but went through without any damage. This trail will be a good one for a beginner.

Trail was overall in good shape, and can be easily completed on a stock truck (with decent clearance), in 2H in normal conditions. There are several dispersed camp sites at the start of the trail. After that, the trail becomes rocky in some spots, and winds up the mountain. It was not difficult, and was completed in my stock 2024 Tacoma Off-Road.
