Trail Overview

This short single track starts at the intersection with dirt bike trails 1562 and Trail A. It begins as a narrow single track through the pine trees. The trail goes on what looks like an old shelf road, following the edge of a mountain that has, over time, become overgrown and turned into a single track. It's smooth and easy. There is one narrow, toughed climb that is a bit rocky, which makes it a little more complicated. Then it turns into a dark tunnel of trees, although the trail stays easy, just on smooth dirt. It zig zags through the hills, then cuts west towards 1562M. 1562M was overgrown with downed trees, and it appeared the trail needed some maintenance, so it didn't make a loop, and 1562N had to be ridden as an out and back.

Access Description

This is a small trail system for dirt bikers and ATVs right next to the town of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, that has a little bit for everyone. It has hard trails, easy trails, single track and two-track, in a really cool environment. It's close to town, but you can still see wildlife here including deer and moose. There are parking areas at the end of Nettleton Gulch Road and up East Fernan Lake Road. These are multi-use trails shared with hikers and mountain bikers, so please be respectful. There are sometimes trail signs at each trail, but there are often lots of unmarked intersections, and it's like a maze of trails here, so it's really helpful to have a map out here. You may get 1 or 2 bars of cell service while on the trails, but may also have no signal. It's hot in the summer here, and rainy/snowy in the winter, but it's rideable almost all year long, but best in spring, summer, fall.
