Trail Overview
Bear Trap Cave is one of many lave caves located in southeast Idaho. This trail begins from Coffee Point and winds southwest across the desert to the Bear Trap cave. It is a relatively easy-going trail, with a mostly dirt road that is only challenging in snow or mud. There are plenty of scenic opportunities along this trail, with many offshoots and side trails that can be explored. Ensure you have a full gas tank, as this can become quite a long adventure, especially if snow and the road drifts. This route makes an excellent winter snow run early on before it is too deep.

Difficulty
There is no major obstacles to overcome on the main route, however the difficulty of this trail can be increased in winter with snow as the road tends to drift in pretty deep. The main surface is dirt and it can also become quite muddy after a rain or snow thaw.
