Trail Overview
This is a historic trail through the beautiful Birch Valley. It takes you to the historic charcoal kilns used back in the day in the area. There are four remaining kilns being preserved and kept in good shape. For more history on the charcoal kilns and the area, spot the informational kiosks. The trail's end has a turnaround with a pit toilet and two picnic benches. It is a lovely spot for lunch or an afternoon snack. The trail out is well-maintained dirt. It winds through the hillside and has beautiful views of the valley and the mountains. One dispersed campsite sits on the hill before you arrive at the kilns. Went on this trail keep watch in the distance for oncoming traffic. The trail is narrow for two vehicles, and there are few pull-outs.
