Trail Overview
The west segment of the Clayburn Creek singletrack from the Clayburn Trailhead until Lava Ridge is an easy 2.4 miles of trail, and much easier than the eastern half of the trail after Lava Ridge, which is an advanced trail that should only be ridden by expert riders. This segment of the trail is mostly smooth and flowy with a few dispersed rock sections as it goes through a beautiful valley. It gradually climbs up to meet Lava Ridge, gaining almost 1,000 feet elevation, but the climb is mellow and gradual, remaining easy and manageable for novice riders. It's a fun ride that will be enjoyable for almost all skill-level riders. From here, however, continuing east on the next section of Clayburn Creek, or going north on Lava Ridge, becomes a much more difficult ride.
