Trail Overview
The terrain is pockmarked with collapsed lava tubes and lava domes that have come to form the hills and valleys of this area. While the trail is relatively moderately traversed, lava rock pops out of the dirt and could cause potential issues with tires and low-clearance vehicles. It is not maintained but rather part of a web of trails that the cattlemen use to check their herds and what hunters use during their seasons. Most of the area is BLM or State property, but some are privately owned and have drop gates that are put up for cattle grazing. You are allowed to travel through, but please be respectful and maintain all gates positions the cattlemen have them in.

Difficulty
Some areas have smooth silted dirt but the terrain is primarily lava rock that pokes through that dirt. It causes some unevenness in certain places and juts out in others with some sharp points. Lower portions on the road hold water well after wet weather causing some mud that can be sticky at times.
