Trail Overview
The Grass Mountain singletrack, starting from Goose Lake Road, begins with a short rutted climb from the trailhead. The first portion is moderate featuring some quick uphill sections with small loose rocks, providing a relatively easy start to this highly technical trail. As you continue west, there are numerous long sections of mixed-size loose and embedded rocks that make for a challenging climb to the top of the mountain. At the top of the mountain, you get an incredible view looking down on the Grass Mountain Lakes. The latter half of the trail becomes very difficult, with a few challenging features with high exposure areas, and rutted/rooted sections. After a difficult uphill section near the intersection with the Coffee Cup Lake Hiking Trail, the trail descends into a very steep and rutted switchback section before transitioning into an ATV trail. It also passes the turnoff for Morgan Lake, which is a short and technical spur down to the lake. It's overall a really fun challenge with incredible views.
