Trail Overview

This is the main thoroughfare through the Pack River area of the Kaniksu National Forest. The road is chip-sealed, well maintained, and can be traversed with the family sedan. The attraction is the scenery. The road follows the Pack River through Kanisku National Forest east of the spectacular Selkirk Mountains. The Chimney Rock trailhead (spur) where the Pack River has cut a path through the granite bedrock is a must-see, as is the white granite monolith, Beehive Dome, to the west just before the turn-around point. Off-road challenges can be found among the many spurs and unmapped ORV tracks in the area, such as the Jeru Creek and Ruby Creek Loops.
