Trail Overview
Pettit Lake is a beautiful clear blue lake with mountains rising behind. The best view is from the official Day Use area. It has a little beach with picnic tables and some fire pits, as well as some trees for shade. Bring your lunch and stay awhile. The drive in is a gravel washboard road and can be pretty dusty but is accessible by all vehicles. There are some dispersed campsites along the way to the lake once you cross the creek and get into the pines. There is also a campground at the lake--take the road that leads around to the right at the lake. The campsites are away from the water in the trees and it's $18/night. Each site has a picnic table and a fire pit and there are pit toilets. The lake has a boat launch, but please look up any rules before your trip if you are planning on boating. The signs at the launch are a bit confusing and indicate no personal craft use. The road that goes around the left side of the lake is just access to private cabins. There were no other day-use spots or better views of the lake.
