Trail Overview

1562 is the main thoroughfare for ATVs through the Canfield Trail System that goes all the way East to West along the north end of the trail system. This is a 3.4-mile-long segment of the ATV trail that is easy with no obstacles and is probably used mostly by dirt bikers and mountain bikers to access lots of the single track. It is two-track width, on easy dirt with small gravel and pieces of rock. Some spots are wider like a road, and some are a bit narrower through the bushes. Watch out for any logs that have come down, although most would be cut, and any mud puddles. It goes through several intersections, most of which have signs helping you know which way to go.

Access Description

This is a small trail system for dirt bikers and ATVs right next to the town of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, that has a little bit for everyone. It has hard trails, easy trails, single tracks, and two tracks in a really cool environment. It's close to town, but you can still see wildlife here including deer and moose. There are parking areas at the end of Nettleton Gulch Road and up East Fernan Lake Road. These are multi-use trails shared with hikers and mountain bikers, so please be respectful. There are sometimes trail signs at each trail, but there are often lots of unmarked intersections, and it's like a maze of trails here, so it's really helpful to have a map out here. You may get 1 or 2 bars of cell service while on the trails, but may also have no signal so make sure to download an offline map ahead of time. It's hot in the summer here, and rainy/snowy in the winter, but it's rideable almost all year long, although it's best ridden in spring, summer, and fall.
