Trail Overview

Trail 5x is located in Redbird State Recreational Area (Linton, IN), a 1.5-hour drive from Indianapolis, IN. Redbird State Recreational Area is a state-owned and maintained offroad park. Trail 5x is a good beginning trail to get to Badge of Honor Trail 5. The trail does have one mud hole halfway through that may be a challenge to stock vehicles if the ground is not completely dry. When the trails at Redbird are wet, the trail increases in difficulty rating to a 4-5. Trail 5x is 0.3 miles long, taking less than 15 minutes to complete. The trail does not have cell service, so download offline maps before you complete the trail.

Difficulty

This trail will can be done by stock 4wd vehicle on a dry day. When the ground is wet, the difficulty will increase to a 4-5, and becomes very slippery.

Access Description

Once you check-in to Redbird at the gate, you can receive a local map of the park or navigate Redbird using On X Offroad. From the parking lot, you will take the main trail, Trail 0, through the woods and cross the railroad tracks. You will then take the main road running through Redbird SRA until you see the sign for Trail 5 on the left hand side after you pass Powerline Hill and the shelter house. You will follow the trail up the hill and immediately make a right as soon as you get to the clearing. Head west in the clearing for roughly 0.125 miles until you see Trail 5x on the right hand side.
