Trail Overview
Maintained gravel roads in this section of the Kisatchie National Forest go to Turkey Trot Campground and a big circle dead end. Turkey Trot Camp should expect very primitive camping. Designated as a hunter's camp means it is only maintained during hunting season. They are, however, open year-round and can be used by all visitors. There are pit toilets, picnic tables, and lantern poles. Dispersed camping (camping outside a designated campground area) is available throughout the Forest for those who enjoy primitive camping. This route ends at a rough trail into the woods that are open to foot traffic only until hunting season opens. There is a sign at this location with dates and information on trail use.
