Trail Overview

This trail skirts the edge of a very marshy section of the Housatonic River. This trail is mostly flat, with some large dried-up mud holes and a few washed-out sections. 4WD is not necessary, though a higher-clearance vehicle is needed to avoid bottoming out. Multiple kayak and canoe launch sites dot the side of the trail, in addition to numerous access points for other October Mountain multi-use trails. Just keep an eye out for wildlife, especially the moss-covered turtles.

Trail was clear but definitely a little more technical than a 1. Had some areas with sharp rocks and narrow passage.

High clearance not necessary if you are decent at picking a line. One spot closer to the north end that’s slightly steep with some large dips that requires careful wheel placement. Done in a stock VW without high clearance. No real scraping
