Trail Overview
This loop provides a change of scenery and meanders through varying species of trees that provide a tunnel-like canopy in some areas. Even this side trail has side trails! Detour from the route to explore the Escanaba Forest Management Unit. The route is for mixed-use traffic and you may encounter "FIR" or "FIT" signs which mark "Fifty Inch Route/Trail." On mixed-use portions, plated full-size vehicles are also welcome on the marked FIR/FIT systems, but look for changes in signs that prohibit full-size vehicles on offshoots. In this area, they are depicted with a silhouette of an old jeep.

Difficulty
This is slightly more difficult that a logging road, but nothing too crazy! You may find washboarding, mud after heavy ran, or soft sand after dry periods. This offshoot is narrower than the main trail, which is why it earns the "3" rating.
