Trail Overview

Deer Track Trail gets its name from the immense amount of deer signs in the area. This is definitely a great trail to take if you want to see some incredible wildlife. This route is mostly a dirt/sand mix. Most of the trail is tight and will require some slower careful driving. This trail loops through Traverse City Forest MGMT Unit with both ends of the trail being accessed off of South Benzonia Trail. The North end is tighter with more twists and turns where downed trees could be covering the trail. The South end is more open but there is a substantial hill as you drive back out to the main road. The trail itself is not very challenging but depending on the local precipitation or downed trees it could be. Along most of the route the cell service is spotty and offline maps is recommended. There is also a few locations for dispersed camping.
