Trail Overview
This route starts on a pretty, seasonal two-track as it slowly climbs in elevation throughout the woods. Along this route, you can be sure to encounter a couple of mud pits midway through the trail. There are 2 small bypasses around these obstacles, but they are extremely narrow. Please do not create your own bypass around these mud pits; follow Tread Lightly principles. These mud pits are much more slick than they appear, and you can expect logs and other debris to be hidden under the murky surface. These mud pits can get excessively deep depending on recent weather. A high-clearance 4x4 should be able to make it through without using the bypasses. As you continue down the trail you'll be greeted by Mena Creek along the side of the trail. This route continues climbing a slight incline with some really pretty views. This is an out-and-back trail. Old maps show the route continuing, but the Michigan DNR has since blocked the only public access to continue this trail. The other option to continue down the trail begins on private land. There is ample space to turn around a few vehicles at the end of the trail. In the fall, the foliage should be excellent, and likewise in the winter, the trees should glisten on this wonderful trail.

Difficulty
The Technical Rating and Difficulty are a 4 due to the two mud pits along this trail. These mud pits increase the difficulty from a 2 to a 4. Beyond these two obstacles, this is an easy two-track trail with a lot of beautiful scenery in this National Forest.
