Trail Overview
NFS 5273/5272 is a scenic bidirectional off-road trail located within the Manistee National Forest. Starting at the north end you'll begin in a dense section of the forest. You'll encounter several mud holes that typically are small and minor. There are usually several rutted-out spots as well as "humps" along the trail. Be sure to soak in the beauty of nature along this trail. We stopped along the track just to take in the canopy of trees above us. It's breathtaking. Most of the trail consists of dirt, gravel, and sand. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause downed trees, washouts, & mud holes. Come prepared. The trail finishes with an awe-inspiring section of red pine trees where it meets West 48 Road. Even though this trail isn't trafficked regularly, be sure to take in its beauty. It's a sight to see. Regardless of the conditions, this is an epic trail with other cool trails nearby!
