Trail Overview
NFS 5421 is an easy bidirectional off-road trail located within the beautiful Manistee National Forest. Most of the trail consists of gravel, sand, and dirt. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. The trail crosses over a powerline road/trail where the surface contains very soft and thick sand. Use good judgment as you traverse through this section. There are a few muddy spots and a couple of minor washouts, but these are all based on recent conditions. This is a wonderful and easy trail that's part of an incredible network of trails for this area. You're sure to enjoy this trail!
