Trail Overview
NFS 7849/7887 is an easy and scenic bidirectional seasonal trail located within the Manistee National Forest. The trail starting from the north end begins from NFS 5151. It descends through the forest on a sandy and gravel path headed towards Poplar Creek. Beware of the washboard sections of the trail. It can be very rough. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. The trail does have a few places that tend to get washed out. Usually, there's enough space on the trail to navigate around these spots, but something to be noted. The MCCCT also intersects this track and crosses over on a cool bridge over the top of Poplar Creek near the end of the trail to the south. One last thing to mention is this trail is a seasonal trail that is used for snowmobiling during the winter months. Regardless of the conditions, this is an amazing trail for all to enjoy!
