Trail Overview
Forest Service Road 9208 (Bear Drive) is a great off-road trail for beginners. Located just east of Newaygo off 82nd Street, this route is easily accessible. This trail is mostly easy with nothing very technical. There are 4 sandy/muddy hilly mounds to go over along the route. A stock-height, long-wheelbase vehicle may become high centered on these. Please use caution. However, these are fun obstacles along the trail. Most of this trail is a combination of sand and dirt. Depending on the direction you take this route, you will either end up at East 88th Street or you will turn into NFS 9908, which will still bring you around to East 88th Street. This trail weaves around a large logging operation within the beautiful Manistee National Forest. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. Regardless of the conditions, this is a very fun trail and a good one for beginners to experience a few small obstacles.
