Trail Overview

NFS 9787 is an easy and scenic bidirectional trail located within the Manistee National Forest. Starting from the southern end, you'll begin on a smooth gravel trail that is plentiful in wildflowers marking the edges of the trail. PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! As you ascend up the trail, you'll come across a field of gorgeous ferns. The natural beauty around this trail is phenomenal. As you continue, you'll pass through a canopy of towering trees along the trail. This is a trail similar to others in the nearby area that should be taken slowly to ensure you can take in its beauty. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. This is not a difficult trail at all, but it still contains a lot of beauty and gives access to other great trails nearby. The north end of the trail finishes at the intersection of South 21 Road and NFS 5269. One last thing to mention is the southern end of this trail meets up with NFS 5334, which is a seasonal trail that is used for snowmobiling during the winter months. Know before you go during certain times of the year so you don't end up getting turned around. Regardless of the conditions, this is an awesome trail!
