Trail Overview
National Forest Service Trail 9904 is an easy off-road trail for beginners. Located near North Evergreen Drive and Buchanan Road, this route is easily accessible. This trail is typically easy with nothing technical. Most of the trail is a combination of sand and dirt and weaves through an exquisite section of the Manistee National Forest with great fall foliage. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause mud/water holes that can get rutted out quickly. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. Regardless of the conditions, this is an awesome trail! If you have extra time, check out the side hill off the trail. It's a dead end just after the top of the hill with minimal space to turn around, but nonetheless, a fun spur trail to check out if you're on NFS 9904!
